Stayed here for two days and it was magnificent. There's been reviews of leeches but I did not see any. Canoeing was only $15 to rent and they had clean bathrooms and many supplies like wood, ice, firestarters if you need it.... right by a market as well, a short drive.. no critter problems, and so private and quiet sites. Staff was incredibly friendly! It was like I was way up more north than just Waterloo.

It's a huge, calm and green place(in summer) and I enjoy spending time there. Also the lake is lovely.

My only complaint is the trails are not as clearly marked as they could be. Otherwise wonderful snowshoeing and well groomed trails.

Laurel creek is right in the middle of the city, but feels as if it is so far outside of it. Camp sites are typically spacious and quiet. Very spacious compared to most other conservation areas (pinehurst comes to mind) although there are far fewer camp sites (something like 111 in comparison to 200) laurel creek is where you want to be if you don't want the inconvenience of being "right on top" of the neighbouring campsite and the noise and hustle of a more popular park. Clean beaches (although the water is not monitored), friendly, inviting staff, and the quiet of a rural feeling camping experience are what keep me coming back year after year. The park has day camps as well as several activities throughout the month which makes laurel creek the perfect stop whether it be a day trip or a week long camping trip. I HIGHLY recommend!!
