A wealth of knowledge, very helpful and friendly. This is a shop that serves the community. I never get the feeling that I'm being upsold.

As many people have mentioned, they are very unclear when it comes to cost of services and will also charge you exorbitant amounts for really, really small quick services. Very easy to get overcharged if you are not knowledgeable when it comes to bikes. I've gone in there occasionally because it's close to me but I would never recommend to someone with no knowledge of bikes because they do (in my opinion) prey on the uninformed(or so it seems). I've been told something would cost around 20$ and come back and they charge me forty. A good alternative in Kitchener is Black Arrow Cycles. The stuff in there is a bit more expensive but the guys that run it are 1)very knowledgeable 2) will never argue with you if you want to do something yourself and will actually point you to good resources 3)are absolutely always upfront with you about cost, what you can do yourself, what you might need help with and will take the time to present you with every option, it's cost and the advantages/disadvantages.

I took my bike in to see if they could flush the hydrolic brake lines. A younger staff member told me they didn't have the right "kit" to handle this and couldn't help me out. I went to a different bike shop in town, where the staff member happened to have previously worked for King Street Cycles and told me they could've easily done the flush. He then proceeded to do the work for me. I went into King Street Cycles a second time to ask if my bike could be converted into a 10x1 or 11x1 gear system. The same staff member couldn't give me an answer. I went to a different bike shop and they gave me all the information I needed to do the work. Not sure it if was the staff member or if they didn't want my business. Either way I don't see myself returning. Customer service is poor.
